Who am I (Part 2) - What do I do when I don't believe I am who God says I am?
Praise the Lord fam!π
It is my hope that you have been well. If you are feeling somewhat discouraged or in low spirits, pick up a mirror or use your selfie camera, smile and say to yourself, "I am blessed, I am a child of God, I am strong, I am beautiful/handsome" then make the sound of a henπ hahaha...Kidding...hope you laughed though.
Fun "Fact"
Question: What was Ruth before he met Boaz?
Answer: Ruthless πππ
Today I want to talk about what we should do when we don't believe who God says we are. I have found myself in this situation where I know who God says I am, I even declare it for myself but it is hard to believe sometimes.This led me to where all questions lead me, to my knees and I asked God how I could continually believe His words of truth about me. It took me to certain bits of God's Word.
In the book of Joshua 1:8 the Bible says "Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful." My emphasis here is on the words meditate. You see I always thought meditating only involves thoughts but I also recently discovered that meditation comes with utterances. You see in Proverbs 18:21, the Word of God says the tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit and what this means is that our words have power to speak into situations. Back to meditation, so how can you meditate using words? By repeating these words of truth constantly to yourself until they become part of you.
Some days will be harder than others to say these words but it is in these moments of weakness that you drag yourself up and speak, repeat these words and your whole body will flow with it - maybe not immediately but you will be surprised how effective this will be. Someone might be wondering, which words of truth is this lady talking about. I am talking about God's Word which is the Bible. The truth is, you will not know what God says about you if you are not interacting with the one book that shares God's thoughts about us.
So I would encourage everyone of you to connect with God's Word today. I will share with you some of the Bible verses I use to remind myself God's truth about me
- Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
- Ephesians 1: 3-4 For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love 5 he predestined us for adoption to sonship[c] through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will—
- 2nd Corinthians 9:12 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
- Psalm 1:1-3 Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers,but whose delight is in the law of the Lord,
and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers. - John 7:38 Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”
- Isaiah 43: 1 -3 But now, this is what the Lord says— he who created you, Jacob, he who formed you, Israel: “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior;
- Isaiah 40:10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
- Isaiah 45:2 -3 I will go before you and will level the mountains[a]; I will break down gates of bronze and cut through bars of iron.I will give you hidden treasures, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am the Lord, the God of Israel, who summons you by name.
God bless you
