Downcast but not destoyed: Part 3
On the mountain of the Lord it was provided for
If this is your first time visiting my blog, welcome! My last two posts have been focusing on a testimony concerning our dad's medical bill provision. Click here for part 1 and here for part 2.
The last time I shared about the "Breakthrough meeting" where we saw God's abundant provision that surpassed our imagination (See Ephesians 3:20). As planned, my auntie, and the lawyer went to the hospital on April 2nd, to make the pending payment and develop a collateral agreement with the hospital since even after the payment, we'd still have a pending bill of around Ksh.300,000. What we didn't know however, is that God had planned for my dad to be discharged that day and guess what, we discovered that the hospital had not included a Ksh. 20,000 payment that had initially been sent to the hospital directly, without our knowledge. We were so excited and immediately informed the hospital, who willingly adjusted. Our God was still surprising us!
Back at home, I was following up with my auntie on the progress of the payment and she informed me they were done and were on their way back, with dad! At this point, I told God, "thank you." I was so excited since this was a great reminder to me that God always goes ahead of us. By God's grace, they arrived home safely and we were all thankful that dad was finally home!
As I had mentioned, we looked for a lawyer, not knowing how we would pay him. Miraculously, someone sent an amount to my sister which was even more than what we needed to pay the lawyer and we immediately knew, once again, that God was already working. We paid the lawyer and in the next one month, we continued to trust God to help us clear the pending bill.
We had opened a fundraising group where I would give constant updates based on the amount of money received. Remember the community group I mentioned in part 1? Well God used them again and they sent us a little over Ksh.100,000. At this point, our faith was increased and we continued to trust in our God, the provider. Slowly but surely, people started sending in money and everyday, we were amazed by the support. Initially, we had thought to ourselves that maybe it would be hard to raise money during a pandemic but God was quick to remind us that He is the Beginning and the End, NOTHING limits Him to move, not even a pandemic.
Just to take you a few steps back, while dad was still in hospital, we had started organizing for a fundraising which was meant to happen on 10th May 2020. However, when the first case of COVID-19 was announced in Kenya, all public gatherings were cancelled and we automatically knew that this would affect the fundraising. What is interesting is that our faith did not waiver. We remained hopeful and I remember my sister saying that God could turn the story and 10th May could become a thanksgiving Sunday.
Towards the end of April, we had a deficit of around 100,000 and coming into May, this amount drastically shifted to 70,000 and quickly came down to 27,000 within a week. On the morning of 7th May, we were short of 27,000 but by evening, we were short of 12,000. On the morning of 8th May, we were short of 9,500 but by evening we were short of 2,500. By 9th May, we were short of Zero shillings! Yes, you read right, ZERO! This is what I would call a divine acceleration of provision.

This photo best describes my experience through this season.
Take a rest. But keep going

You guessed right 10th May, the day set for the fundraising was here and instead of raising money, we were giving thanks - This could only be God. From 1.2Million to Zero shillings. God is faithful. The song in my heart as I type this is, "You've turned my mourning, into dancing again, you've lifted my sorrows, I can't stay silent, I must sing for His joy has come, ooooh". The song is by Ron Kenoly. See the full song here
